Josh Murray is the Secretary of Transport for NSW, leading a team of 30,000 people dedicated to keeping NSW moving. He is focused on delivering a once-in-a-generation transport system that is safe, sustainable, integrated and equitable.
Josh is passionate about evolving our state transport network to offer greater choice and seamless experiences to meet the diverse needs of its users.
He works collaboratively with passengers, the workforce, industry and across government to unlock better services, economic potential, and social connectivity.
Under Josh’s leadership, Transport for NSW is embarking on a transformative agenda that builds on the commitment of its people and stakeholders, to offer world-class services.
A respected global executive, Josh has 20 years’ experience in senior leadership roles and a comprehensive knowledge of the global infrastructure sector.
Prior to joining Transport, he served as a global director for one of the world’s largest privately owned construction and engineering companies, where he led teams from Sydney and London.
He also has a background in Government, serving in multiple portfolios and as Chief of Staff to a NSW Premier. Josh began his career as a journalist and won the prestigious Walkley Award for his coverage of the East Timor peacekeeping mission.
